Exports remain robust

In August, exports grew 37.1% over the same month last year, which was slightly below the 39.5% expansion observed in July. That said, export growth remains robust, with the August reading representing the 23rd consecutive month of double-digit growth in exports. Non-oil and non-gas exports decelerated from 28.4% in July to 25.5% in August, while oil and gas exports grew a strong 105.2% over the same month the previous year (July: +102.1% year-on-year). Meanwhile, import growth moderated to 23.7% over the same month last year (July: +28.4% yoy). The trade surplus rose from USD 1.2 billion in July to USD 3.8 billion in August.
