Exports slow to a virtual halt

Exports rose 1.2% in annual terms to USD 5.2 billion in May, which was well down from the 6.9% expansion recorded in the previous month. The figure marked, in fact, the slowest growth rate recorded since October 2009. The paltry growth rate mainly reflected how higher shipments of manufacturing products were mostly offset by declining exports of fuels and mining products. Meanwhile, imports expanded 6.0% in April
