Canada PMI

Purchasing managers index climbs in January

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), which is sponsored by the Richard Ivey School of Business and the Purchasing Management Association of Canada, increased from 53.6 points in December to 55.7 points in January. The reading came in below market expectations that had the PMI rising to 57.0 points. As a result, the PMI remained above the 50-point threshold for a sixth consecutive month, which suggests that the manufacturing sector continues to expand. In addition, on a seasonally adjusted basis, the Ivey PMI climbed from 63.5 points in December to 64.1 points in January.
