Economic Growth to Continue to Slow
The outlook for economic growth this year continues to weaken, as consumption and exports are being pummelled by the global downturn. Investment, on the other hand, is likely to maintain a robust pace, buttressed by large infrastructure ventures, especially the Panama Canal expansion project. In addition, the new government of Ricardo Martinelli is expected to bring closer ties with the United States and offer a push to the stalled Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries.Panama:
