Argentina
Kirchner appoints new Central Bank Governor
The political row between the government and the Central Bank came to an end with the resignation of former Governor Martín Redrado and the appointment of Mercedes Marcó Del Pont, ex-president of the state-owned Banco de la Nación Argentina and former member of parliament of the ruling Frente para la Victoria coallition. The new governor is considered a strong ally of the government and her appointment has raised concerns about the independence of the Central Bank. Despite the political turmoil, the outlook is improving on rising consumer confidence and better figures from the external sector.Argentina:
