Romania
Political turmoil finally left behind
After three failed attempts to form a stable government since the ruling coalition collapsed in October, recently re-elected President Traian Basescu officially re-appointed interim Prime Minister Emil Boc to lead the cabinet. Boc has received parliamentary vote of confidence as well as managed to pass a budget compliant with the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) requirements. Meanwhile, an IMF mission will visit Romania on 20 January to asses the economic conditions. If the review is positive, the Fund will unblock the 20 billion euro international bailout program approved in 2009.Romania:
