The outlook for the country improved on the strength of a stronger-than-expected economic performance in the fourth quarter of last year, and the economy is expected to experience a solid recovery this year. Meanwhile, the country is preparing for presidential elections in May, with the electoral campaign beginning in early February. Elections are expected to be a close call as recent polls give only a small lead to Liberal Party's candidate Benigno Arroyo III over Nationalist People's Coalition candidate Manuel Villar.Philippines:
