Snapshot
On 21 October, the IMF concluded its 2011 Article IV consultation with Belize. The report stated that Belize has weathered the financial crisis relatively well in comparison with other countries in the region. However, on the downside, the IMF highlighted the feeble investment climate and the vulnerability of the banking system. In addition, the IMF raised concerns about the recent rise in poverty and stressed the need to further tighten the fiscal stance.
