The economy continued to cool towards the end of 2011, with GDP expanding only 1.9% in annual terms in the fourth quarter, due to a slowdown in the domestic sector. More recent indicators point to a further deterioration in economic activity at the start of the year, with industrial production plummeting 16.5% year-on-year in January.
