GDP in Macedonia
Macedonia - GDPThe recently-formed government has gotten to work with the hope of normalizing the political situation at home after the prolonged political crisis caused the economy to decelerate to a multi-year low last year. The most recent data show that the economy grew at a flat rate in the first quarter as growth was dented by a paltry 0.6% expansion in fixed investment and slower growth in private consumption. To rekindle growth, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev recently unveiled a series of reforms to build closer ties with the European Union. The PM plans to clear legal obstacles to initiate accession talks with the EU in the next three months and carry out reforms, particularly of government and government branches.
