In December, industrial production increased 12.5% over the same month the previous year, which represented an improvement compared to the 9.9% expansion recorded in November and marked, in fact, the fastest pace since May 2010. The acceleration over the previous month was broad-based. Mining output increased 6.0% (November: +2.5% year-on-year), while the manufacturing sector expanded a robust 15.6% expansion (November: +14.1% year-on-year). In addition, the distribution of electricity, natural gas and water also improved, rising from a paltry 0.2% annual increase in November to a 7.1% expansion. In the full year 2010, industrial production expanded 11.0%, following on a 21.9% contraction in 2009.
