In the second quarter, GDP grew 3.8% over the same quarter last year based on preliminary estimates released by the National Statistics Institute on 29 July. The print came in below the robust 5.3% expansion seen in the first quarter as well as last month's Consensus Forecast that had the economy growing 4.1%. A quarter-on-quarter comparison corroborates the notion of a deceleration, as the economy grew 0.5% over the previous quarter in seasonally adjusted terms, which came in below the strong 2.9% qoq observed in the previous quarter.
