In November, industrial output added 5.4% annually, which was below the 6.0% expansion recorded in October. The growth in industrial production was driven by manufacturing and the production of electricity, gas and water. Manufacturing output, which accounts for the bulk of industrial production, rose 6.1% over the same month last year, accelerating over the 5.8% pace recorded in the previous month. Electricity, gas and water supply slowed, adding 0.4% in November after increasing 2.2% in October. On the other hand, mining and quarrying contracted 4.4%, down from the 24.5% expansion registered in October. Seasonally adjusted data do not corroborate the expansion suggested by the annual data, as industrial production contracted 0.7% over October. However, annual average growth in industrial production increased from 5.4% to 6.0% in November.
