In February, industrial production fell a calendar adjusted 0.4% over the same month last year, contrasting the 1.4% rise tallied in January. According to the statistical office, industrial output deteriorated due to a fall in the mining and quarrying as well as in the manufacturing sectors. Seasonally adjusted data corroborate the deterioration suggested by the annual figures, as industrial production contracted 0.3% over the previous month in February, following a drop of the same magnitude in January. Meanwhile, the trend continues to point downwards, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 1.3% in January to 0.9% in February.
