In August, industrial output contracted 1.5% over the same month the previous year, which followed July's revised 0.9% contraction (previously reported: -0.5% year-on-year). The August print represented the second decline since February 2010. Seasonally adjusted data do not corroborate the deterioration suggested by the annual figures, as industrial production expanded 1.3% over the previous month in August, contrasting July's 1.8% contraction. Owing to the annual August reading, annual average growth in industrial production continues to point downwards, decelerating from 6.2% in July to 5.2% in August.
