In November, consumer prices rose 0.5% over the previous month, which was above the 0.2% increase recorded in October. The increase mainly reflected higher prices for transport and food. Annual headline inflation edged up from 4.4% in October to 4.6% in November, the highest rate since November 2008. Annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) rose from 3.2% in September to 3.5% in October, the latest month for which data is available. The Central Bank expects annual average HICP inflation to reach 4.2% this year before moderating to 3.0% in 2012.
