In January, industrial output rose 11.9% over the same month last year, which represented an acceleration from December's 9.9% expansion and marked the fastest pace of expansion since August 2007. A month-on-month comparison does not corroborate the acceleration suggested by annual figures. In January, industrial production expanded a working-day and seasonally adjusted 1.0% over the previous month, which was below the 1.6% increase in December. Annual average growth in industrial output stepped up from 5.5% in December to 5.9% in January, resuming the upward trend after a slight setback in December.
