In February, industrial output dropped 1.2% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 1.6% increase observed in January. The drop was driven by contractions in the manufacturing as well as the mining and quarrying sectors, on the back of harsh weather conditions which caused severe transportation disruptions. Compared to the previous month, industrial production fell 1.4% in seasonally and working-day adjusted terms, which contrasted the revised flat reading recorded in January (previously reported: +0.6% month-on-month). As a result, annual average growth dropped from a 4.9% increase in January to a 3.8% expansion in February, the slowest pace since July 2010.
