Poland Consumer Confidence

Consumer confidence rebounds at the beginning of 2013

The consumer confidence index (WOK) published by IPSOS rose from 72.0 points in December to 76.0 points in January. Nevertheless, the index remains considerably below the 100-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

The improvement was broad-based, with all components of the index increasing over the previous month. The economic climate index improved the most, followed by a rise in the current index.

Consumers' negative perception of their economic well-being does not bode well for private consumption growth going forward.
