According to the Central Statistical Office's Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS), the general business climate index fell from plus 1.1 points in September to minus 1.1 points in October. As a result, the index surpassed the zero-point threshold separating pessimism from optimism for the first time since January, indicating that pessimists outnumbered optimists. Compared to the same period last year, business confidence was 5.1 points lower. In general, businesses were mostly concerned about employment prospects, as well as the volume of their total liabilities. On the other hand, businesses showed highest optimism in the current production category.
