According to the Central Statistical Office's Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS), the general business climate index fell from 3.0 points in August to 1.1 points in September, which represented a 2011 low. That said, the index continues to hover above the zero-point threshold separating pessimism from optimism for an eighth consecutive month. Compared to the same period last year, business confidence was 6.7 points lower. In general, businesses were more pessimistic about their ability to pay current debts, although more optimistic regarding expected domestic and foreign orders.
