In September, industrial production grew 8.3% over the same month last year, which was up from the 6.6% increase recorded in August. Manufacturing was the driving sector, rising from an 8.7% increase in August to a 9.4% expansion in September. In addition, mining and quarrying as well as electricity and gas improved compared to the previous month, while the water supply sector declined. A month-on-month comparison does not corroborate the improvement seen in annual figures, as industrial production declined a seasonally adjusted 1.0% in September, which was down from the 0.1% contraction tallied in August. Annual average growth in industrial production in September remains unchanged at August's 12.1%.
