In the third quarter, GDP grew 4.4% over the same period last year, according to the flash estimate released on 29 October by the National Statistics Office. The result came in well above the 2.1% expansion recorded in the previous quarter and, in fact, represents the fastest quarterly expansion recorded since the last quarter of 2011. A quarter-on-quarter analysis corroborates the acceleration observed in the annual figures, as GDP expanded a seasonally and working-day adjusted 1.3% over the previous quarter, which more than doubled from the 0.6% expansion tallied in Q2. More detailed data will be released on 29 November. The Central Bank expects GDP to grow 3.0% in 2012 and 3.4% in 2013
