In January, industrial production expanded 13.7% over the same month last year, which was above the 10.6% (previously reported: +9.8% year-on-year) increase recorded in December and beat market expectations of a 12.4% rise. A month-on-month comparison confirmed the acceleration seen in annual figures, as industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 4.58% over the previous month, which was above the 3.15% increase recorded in December. That said, the trend moderated, with annual average growth in industrial production expanding 14.7%, down from the 16.2% increase recorded in December.
