Israel: Exports accelerate in February

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), in February exports totaled USD 4.8 billion, which was up from January’s USD 4.7 billion. The reading marked a 2.1% increase over the same month of the previous year (January: +2.0% year-on-year).

Meanwhile, imports totaled USD 5.4 billion in February, which was up from the USD 4.7 billion seen in January. February’s reading was a 12.4% increase year-on-year, which was significantly up from the 1.4% increase observed in the previous month.

The trade balance recorded a USD 0.6 billion shortfall in February, which was a deterioration from January’s flat reading.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect exports to contract 3.0% in 2016. For 2017, the panel expects exports to expand 4.5%.
