Israel: Business and consumer confidence improve in September

The business confidence index produced by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) came in at 19.2 in September, which was above the previous month’s reading of 18.2 points and marked the highest print on record.

The consumer confidence index improved slightly from minus 15.0 in August to minus 14.5 in September, yet it remained firmly entrenched in negative territory.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 5.6% in 2016, which is up 1.2 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel sees fixed investment growing 4.8%, which is up 0.6 percentage points from last month’s projection. Panelists expect private consumption to grow 4.7% in 2016, which is up 0.6 percentage points from last month’s estimate. The panel expects private consumption to grow 3.9% in 2017, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
