India: Inflation continues to fall in August
Consumer prices increased 0.25% from the previous month in August, easing from July’s 0.74% increase. Looking at the details of the release, food and non-alcoholic beverage prices were relatively unchanged over the previous month—contrasting July’s relatively sharp rise—while the increase in energy prices slowed.
Inflation eased to 5.3% in August from July’s 5.6%, while the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.7% in August (July: 5.8%).
