In March, consumer prices added 0.5% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.2% drop recorded in February. According to the statistical institute, higher prices for clothing and footwear as well as for food were the main drivers behind the monthly increase. Annual inflation rose to 4.9% in March from 4.7% in February, exceeding market expectations, which had inflation edging up to 4.8%.
