Guatemala: Growth in economic activity edges up in September

In September, economic activity increased 2.4% from the same month last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Índice Mensual de la Actividad Económica). The result was slightly higher than August’s revised 2.3% increase (previously reported: +2.5% year-on-year).

Annual average growth inched down from 3.0% in August to 2.8% in September, which represented the lowest reading since January 2011.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists forecast that the economy will grow 3.5% this year, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month's estimate. Next year, the panel sees GDP growth accelerating to 3.7%, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month's projection.
