In July, consumer prices jumped 0.4% over the previous month, according to a preliminary flash estimate released by the statistical institute on 27 July. The monthly rise contrasted the 0.1% fall observed in June and mainly reflected seasonal factors related to the summer holidays. Despite the monthly rise, annual headline inflation remained unchanged at June's 1.7%, which was in line with market expectations and represents the lowest level since December 2010. Meanwhile, annual average inflation remained unchanged at June's. HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) remained unchanged at June's 2.0%. More detailed inflation data will be published on 11 August.
