New Zealand: Consumer confidence deteriorates in March

The ANZ-Roy Morgan consumer confidence indicator fell to 86.4 in March from 94.5 in February. Consequently, the index moved further below the 100-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers.

In March, households’ expectations of the country’s economic situation in the next 12 months and five years worsened. Additionally, households were less willing to buy big-ticket items.
