Dominican Republic: Economic activity stable in September

In September, economic activity in the Dominican Republic increased 6.2% from the same month of last year, according to an estimate from the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Índice Mensual de Actividad Económica). The reading matched the print observed in August.

On a month-on-month basis, economic activity in September recorded growth of 1.7%, following August’s softer 0.1% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average growth in economic activity mirrored August’s 6.4% increase.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see the economy growing 5.5% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists expect economic growth to average 4.6%, which is also unchanged from last month’s projection.
