Dominican Republic: Economic activity accelerates in April

In April, economic activity increased 7.8% over the same month of last year, according to an estimate of the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de Actividad Economica). The expansion was above the 7.4% increase observed in March.

Annual average growth in economic activity stabilized in April at March’s 6.9%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see the economy growing 5.4% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists expect economic growth to average 4.5%.
