Denmark: Business sentiment deteriorates to 17-month low in May

May 30, 2022

Business sentiment came in at minus 3.0 in May, down from April's 4.0. May's result marked the weakest reading since December 2020. As a result, the index dropped below the 0-point threshold, signaling pessimism among businesses.

May’s fall came on the back of firms' weaker optimism with regard to production expectations. Moreover, views regarding order backlog deteriorated markedly.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect gross fixed investment to increase 2.1% in 2022, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 2.4% in 2023.
