In February, the business confidence index (IMCE, Indicador Mensual de Confianza Empresarial) published by Icare and the Universidad Adolfo Ibañez rose from 50.4 points in January to 51.1 points, which marked the highest level in four months. Following the February increase, confidence is well above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism. February's figure was driven by an improvement in the mining and industry sectors, while trade and construction recorded a deterioration over the previous month. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed private investment to grow 4.0% in 2014, which is unchanged from last month's estimate. In 2015, the panel expects private investment to increase 6.1%.
