Canada PMI

Purchasing managers index continues to rise

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), which is sponsored by the Richard Ivey School of Business and the Purchasing Management Association of Canada, surged from 57.6 points in August 63.4 points in September. The increase exceeded market expectations, which had the PMI moderating to 55.0 points. As a result, the PMI moved further above the 50-point threshold, which suggests an expansion in manufacturing production in September. On a seasonally adjusted basis, however, the Ivey PMI edged down from 56.4 points in August to 55.7 points in September.
