In June, consumer prices dropped 0.90% over the previous month after remaining flat in May, and virtually matched the 0.92% drop tallied in June 2010. Despite the monthly drop, annual inflation was unchanged from May's 4.8%. The monthly reading reflected lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.36% mom) as well as for transport (-0.97% mom). Annual average inflation rose from 4.0% in May to 4.3% in June, the highest level since October 2009. The government expects inflation to average 3.6% this year.
