Inflation continues to edge down in May

In May, consumer prices increased 0.36% over the previous month, which was below both the 0.64% rise recorded in April and market expectations of a 0.43% price increase. The result mainly reflected an increase in prices for food and housing. Despite the monthly price rise, annual headline inflation eased for the eighth consecutive month, inching down from 5.1% in April to 5.0% in May, and thus settling within the Central Bank
